School Rules

BlazersLunch Hour Arrangements
All pupils are expected to take lunch either at home or in school:  No pupils are allowed to leave school during the lunch hour.  Pupils who have lunch at home or who have to leave school for legitimate reasons will be provided with a pass-out by the Pastoral Leader.

School lunch arrangements are
Cafeteria lunch is available for all years or the girls may choose to bring a packed lunch.  All food at lunch-time is consumed in the canteen.

Lunch hour supervision is carried out by Supervisors.  Pupils are expected to show Supervisors the same consideration and respect as they do members of the teaching staff and must follow their instructions at all times.  Misbehaviour during the lunch hour will be reported to Pastoral Leaders who will deal with the offenders by setting a suitable punishment.

Respect for Others and for Property
One of the main aims of the school is to develop in pupils the spirit of respect and consideration for others which are so important in the life of a community.  We also need to show a proper respect for the property of others.  The school will therefore deal severely with incidents involving abusive language or violent behaviour.  Any fighting will be reported to parents and the pupils involved may be excluded from school.

Pupils who cause damage to school property or to the property of others will be asked to apologise and will have to repair, make good or pay for the damage caused.

Chewing gum is not allowed in school.  Pupils found chewing will be fined £1.00 first offence, £2.00 second offence etc.

Homework
All pupils are expected to complete homework in all subjects.  Homework is recorded by the pupil in their planner.

  • Year 7 – 9 operate a homework timetable co-ordinated by the Pastoral Leaders.
  • Homework clubs operate at lunchtime for Years 7 – 11.
  • Pupils who do not complete homework satisfactorily or by the date set are dealt with by the class teacher.
  • If the problem persists the class teacher will liaise with the Subject Leader (see report procedures for Subject Leaders).

Movement in the School

  • Keep to the left.
  • Do not run.
  • Year 10 and Year 11 use the stairs adjacent to the Dining Room in O’Connell building. (Dismissal)
  • Year 9 use the stairs adjacent to the Annex in O’Connell building. (Dismissal)
  • Year 12 and Year 13 use the entrance to McAuley building adjacent to Year 7 yard.

Smoking
Smoking is a fire hazard and can seriously damage a person’s health; it is contrary to the Health and Safety Rules of St. Anthony’s.  Smoking is therefore not allowed and will be regarded as a serious offence.  Any pupil caught smoking or in possession of cigarettes or smoking materials will be punished by the Pastoral Leader and the matter will be referred to the parents.

Fire Alarm
Should any girls activate the fire alarm without a just cause the fine will be £50.00.
