Year 7/8/9 Badminton News
Congratulations to the girls from years 7 8 and 9 who competed in the Sunderland Schools Badminton finals on 9th November. Two St. Anthony’s teams were entered in the competition as well as Farringdon, Houghton Kepier and Monkwearmouth. St. Anthony’s A team won the competition, winning all of their games, whilst the ‘B’ team came 4th.
The girls who competed for the ‘A’ team who now qualify for the regional finals are in the back row from left to right: Sarah Simpson, Abbe Cuthbertson, Zoe Adamson and Katie Hughes.
The girls who competed for the ‘B’ team are in the front row from left to right: Alex Pearson, Ellie Spraggon, Rachel Doyle and Riya Raju.
Netball News
Congratulations to the U16 netball squad! They played in a County Tournament on Saturday 7th November and won, securing their place in the regional tournament in January with the U19 netball squad. The U14 team managed to achieve 4th place. Well done everyone!
Congratulations to the Year 10 and 11 Netball Teams. Both teams have won the Tyne & Wear Netball tournaments this year, the Year 11 team have also won the City of Sunderland Tournament for the fifth consecutive year and both teams and are undefeated so far in all of their City Of Sunderland League Matches – Well Done!!

Year 10 Netball Team – Scarlet Fearon, Caroline Connolly, Beth McLusky, Abigail Smith, Anna Chisholm, George Hanratty, Jessica Cook
A Team
The Year 7 A team played their first match against Southmoor on November 3rd. After losing 6 – 3 at half time they managed to fight back resulting in a 7-7 draw!! A big well done to all girls involved!
B Team
The Year 7 B team played their first match early in the school year (7th October) against Houghton Kepier A team. The match was close and unfortunately Houghton Kepier managed to score the winning goal in the last minute. The final score being 3 -2.
More recently the B team played Sunderland High School’s A team at home. This was also a very close match, resulting in a 3-3 draw. A big well done to all girls involved!
