Admissions

In classIn Year 11 it is time to make some important decisions about your future options and as a Year 11 student it is vital you make the right choice.

The majority of Year 11 pupils will be encouraged to choose 3 "academic" subjects plus General Studies.

However, those girls who perform particularly well in their GCSE examinations will be given the opportunity to study 4 AS levels plus General Studies.  However, in order to ease their workload they are entered for the General Studies examinations but they are not required to attend timetabled lessons.

Students undertaking a full Advanced GCE course must have at least 5 GCSE in a range of grades from A to C with the higher grades being in the chosen subjects.  Where subjects are heavily oversubscribed an addtional requirement, such as a particular grade in a relevant subject, may be imposed.  Students are reminded that those who only achieve the minimum entry requirement of 5 grade C's may find full AS courses demanding and may be advised to consider other options.  We would normally expect one of these passes to be in English or in Maths.  Those achieving fewer then 5 C's will not be admitted to AS level courses.  Students achieving GNVQ FULL AWARD plus one other subject will not be deemed as fulfilling the entry requirement.

OPEN EVENING
To find out what life is like in St. Anthony's Sixth Form Centre you will need to come and see for yourself.

At our Open Evening you can talk to staff, seek advice and learn more about what life is like as a Sixth Former.

DATES AND TIMES
We will be holding an Open Evening on 20 January 2009.

HOW TO APPLY
Brochures containing application forms are made available to all prospective candidates prior to the Year 11 Options Evening which is held in January.

Students from other schools should return their application forms in an envelope clearly marked "Sixth Form Application" as soon as possible so that interviews can be arranged with the Deputy Head Teacher and the Head of Sixth Form.  Students and parents can consult Subject Leaders about courses and take the opportunity of individual guidance from senior staff.

Choices are confirmed in August after the publication of GCSE results and further guidance and advice is available at this stage.
