Students should give very careful thought to choice of course/subjects when they complete their application forms. Only in exceptional cases, (poor examination performance) will they be permitted to make changes at a later date, because late, and numerous, subject changes can have an adverse effect on the size of teaching groups.
The school endeavours as far as possible to satisfy the choices of individuals. Indeed, the sixth form timetable is constructed on the basis of the choices made by Y11 pupils. However, with the advent of Curriculum 2000, the possibility of most students pursuing an extra subject at AS level has meant that subject permutations have become increasingly complex. Choice may be restricted further by the teaching commitments of staff in KS4. In consequence, students who wish to study five subjects at AS level may be unable to take-up their 5th choice subject.
